  • Tends machines that segregate particles of dry materials, such as sand, powdered minerals, feed, resins, and chemicals, into batches of uniform size by sifting through one or more oscillating screens.
  • Throws switches to activate take-off conveyor or removes full containers manually or using hoists or trucks to maintain production flow.
  • Measures or weighs and maintains records of material sifted or packaged to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Studies production orders to ascertain type and quantity of product, containers to be used, and other packaging requirements to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Inspects products prior to packaging and returns rejected products to production departments to maintain quality standards.
  • Conducts packaging operations and inspects containers to verify conformance to specifications to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Requisitions containers and other supplies for delivery to workstations to maintain production flow.
  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and performs setup and adjustments of machines to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product to maintain high standards.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and safety of the shop, department, or work crew to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists the team in solving work problems to maintain productivity and efficiency.
  • Maintains time and production records to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials required to meet production goals to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to the team leader or maintenance personnel to maintain equipment and ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Requests movement of raw materials and finished products, supporting material handling activities to maintain production flow.
  • Prepares chemical materials for use in processing, following standardized formulas or procedures to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Weighs out quantities of powdered chemicals, following formula sheets, procedures, or standards to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Dismantles machines or equipment per TPM procedures, replacing defective parts and motors, and adjusting feed mechanisms to maintain equipment and ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Cleans and lubricates machine parts, such as shafts, pulleys, gears, and bearings, to maintain equipment and ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Removes dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines to maintain equipment and ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Paints machines or equipment to prevent corrosion to maintain equipment and ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Cleans work areas, tools, and equipment to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Visually inspects and listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with the team leader or maintenance team to diagnose problems or repair machines.
  • Examines form and texture of work in process to detect imperfections to maintain quality standards.
  • Reports progress of work and downtime due to failures of machines and equipment to apprise the Team Leader of delays to maintain productivity and efficiency.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of manufacturing teams.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to speak fluent English.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9000 and OSHA & EPA Regulations.
  • Ability to get along with others.
  • Ability to concentrate for extended periods.
  • Possess a current driver's license.
  • As required, must be able to attend training in Japan.
