Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Northwell Health. As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound examinations and providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and position patients for ultrasonic examinations, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the procedure.
  • Operate and maintain ultrasonic diagnostic equipment, adhering to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Initiate and maintain quality patient care throughout the examination, assessing and responding to individual patient needs.
  • Interact courteously and respectfully with patients, families, and colleagues, explaining procedures and requirements in a clear and concise manner.
  • Review ultrasound orders against physicians' referrals or patient medical records to ensure correctness and appropriateness of procedures ordered.
  • Establish effective communication with patients and families to successfully complete procedures, keeping them informed of progress and delays.
  • Contribute to the team approach, providing the best possible patient care and services, and interfacing with patients, staff, and physicians to facilitate the improvement of the patient experience.
  • Transport patients as necessary to expedite examinations and provide optimal care.
  • Work continuously to improve Press Ganey scores via patient satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program, required.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years hospital experience as an Ultrasound Technologist or Sonographer, required.
  • Vascular experience, preferred.
Physical Demands

Constant standing, walking, frequent stooping, bending, stretching, lifting, positioning, pulling, pushing, turning, occasional sitting. Frequently lifts or moves objects. Occasionally moves with assistance, patients or objects greater than 150 lbs. Occasionally carries objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Frequently pushes objects up to 200 lbs.
