Job Overview

The Millwork Production Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the entire millwork production process. This position requires a strong understanding of manufacturing operations, quality control, and employee relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage all millwork manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement Lean manufacturing techniques to optimize production workflows and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop performance goals and long-term operational plans.
  • Manage policy development in areas such as quality, cost reduction, delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, and employee relations.
  • Identify and implement capital investments and improvement projects to enhance production efficiency and quality.
  • Own processing schedules and production orders, making decisions on inventory requirements, staffing, work procedures, and duty assignments.
  • Coordinate production timing and prioritization with various stakeholders, including project managers and engineering departments.
  • Develop and maintain production tracking and quality control systems to reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
  • Provide leadership for employee relations, fostering a success-oriented and accountable environment.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, or discharge staff, or resolve personnel issues.
  • Develop and maintain a preventive maintenance plan and schedule for all equipment and building-related assets.
  • Coordinate facility or equipment maintenance, including the addition or replacement of equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain various production reports and personnel records, entering pertinent data into the Company ERP system as needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of millwork and QC fields, staying abreast of materials use and pertinent technological advances.
  • Prepare and present regular reports and business updates to senior leadership.
Requirements
  • Proficiency with computers and the MS Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Knowledge and prior practice of Lean Manufacturing techniques and methodologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of millwork production materials and techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Detailed, with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Critical thinking/problem-solving skills and the ability to define workflows and production throughout optimization analyses.
  • Relationship development and management skills at all levels, from shop floor to C-suite.
Work Environment

The Millwork Production Manager will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with some exposure to sawdust and the sounds of shop machinery. The position requires frequent sitting at a computer and walking to coordinate work activities and hold meetings.
