Position Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role as a member of the clinic team, ensuring smooth patient flow and executing responsibilities as outlined in the Primary Responsibilities section.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Flow: Assists in rooming patients and families, conducts clerical tasks, facilitates patient transport, and maintains cleanliness and organization of clinical areas.
- Patient Care: Engages in essential patient care activities, including but not limited to:
- Monitoring vital signs
- Performing ECGs
- Assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Transporting patients.
Trained in the use of patient lift equipment and recognizes symptoms of common medical conditions, promptly escalating concerns to registered nurses or providers. - Documentation: Accurately records vital signs and patient information in accordance with established policies.
- Customer Service: Upholds patient rights and privacy, demonstrating sensitivity to the emotional, social, and mental health needs of patients and families. Acts as a courteous representative of Fred Hutch, fostering a safe and welcoming environment.
- Communication: Promotes effective communication by respecting the ideas and feelings of others and seeking assistance when needed.
- Fiscal Responsibilities: Accurately charges for supplies and equipment.
- Professional Development: Takes initiative in identifying and pursuing learning opportunities.
- HIPAA Compliance: Demonstrates understanding of patient privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant in the state of Washington
- Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent) with renewal every two years
- Knowledge of human growth and development to tailor care to the patient’s age and developmental stage.
Physical requirements include the ability to perform tasks such as walking, standing, pushing, bending, lifting patients and equipment, and executing nursing procedures. Candidates should possess strong multitasking, prioritization, and problem-solving skills, along with effective verbal and written communication abilities.

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range for this position is from $23.32 to $33.20, based on experience and qualifications.
