Lifeguard Position

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Lifeguard to join our team at the City of Casper, WY. As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of guests at our aquatic facility by anticipating, recognizing, responding to, and managing potentially dangerous situations, including emergency situations. You will also instruct swim and water safety programs in accordance with American Red Cross standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Patrol the pool area to observe activities of individuals in the aquatic facility to ensure participant safety and compliance with facility rules.
Provide general customer service and communicate with the public regarding fees, policies, rules, and general information about the facility or event.
Instruct swim and water safety programs in accordance with American Red Cross standards at the aquatic facility.
Maintain appropriate records associated with the aquatic facility.
Perform tasks involved in the general operation of the aquatic facility, including physical tasks that involve moving various pieces of equipment and basic mechanical tasks.
Enforce facility and public health rules and regulations. Clean aquatic facilities; perform and record chemical tests; turn fountains and related water features off and on.
Represent the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.

Requirements:

Current First Aid and CPR certificates required.
American Red Cross Lifeguard certification required.
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification preferred.
Must be at least 15 years of age.

Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with constant mental and visual attention. Incumbents in this position will be in situations where they may experience critical/traumatic events and need to have the ability to quickly move between workspaces. The City of Casper does not offer any benefits for employees who hold regular part-time positions who do not meet minimum hours worked. For more details, contact Human Resources at 01.
