Role Overview:
As a vital member of our team, the Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of our operations and projects. This position encompasses both project-specific and general full-cycle accounting responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
As an Accountant, you will:

  • Perform general accounting and administrative tasks to fulfill contractual obligations for large-scale projects.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion and review of all financial transactions.
  • Provide project teams with necessary ad hoc reports and analyses.
  • Compile information for both internal and external financial reporting.
  • Prepare bank deposits, monthly reconciliations, and cash receipt entries.
  • Identify irregularities or potential risks and assist in developing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Communicate compliance and project risks to the project team and accounting management.
  • Assemble client billing packages in accordance with contract stipulations, ensuring prompt payment.
  • Review contracts and interpret documentation related to accounting, aiding in project setup.
  • Mentor and supervise entry-level accounting staff.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A postsecondary degree or diploma in a relevant field.
  • Active pursuit of an accounting designation is advantageous.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or a related sector.
  • A strong grasp of full-cycle accounting, project forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Intermediate knowledge of government regulations and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Understanding of project costing principles, recoveries, insurance, and contract/subcontract requirements.
  • Compliance with labor agreements, government regulations, and PCL policies.
  • Strong management capabilities, with the ability to delegate and motivate team members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with accounting software.
