About the Position

Massachusetts, Inc. seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented Urban Forestry Specialist to join our Greening the Gateway Cities Program. This is an exciting opportunity to work in urban forestry and contribute to the growth of our Commonwealth's tree canopy.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will assist in planning and implementing tree planting operations throughout Massachusetts, working closely with local communities, landowners, and stakeholders to promote sustainable urban forestry practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and coordinating tree planting events and activities
  • Collaborate with local governments, community groups, and landowners to identify and prioritize tree planting sites
  • Conduct site assessments and provide technical advice on tree selection, care, and maintenance
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, landowners, and government officials

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in forestry, urban planning, environmental science, or a related field
  • At least 1 year of experience in urban forestry, natural resource management, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of urban forestry principles, practices, and regulations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in forestry, urban planning, environmental science, or a related field
  • Professional certification in urban forestry or a related field
  • Experience with GIS mapping and spatial analysis
