Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Bus Monitor/Aide to join our team in Accord, NY. As a key member of our transportation team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and passengers.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Student Behavior: Remain alert and attentive to the welfare of passengers while in transit, communicating any behavior problems or concerns with the driver.
  • Assist with Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Inspections: Help with the pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is safe and ready for operation.
  • Support Student Loading and Unloading: Assist students in the loading and unloading process, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Communicate with School Personnel and Parents: Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, students, and parents to ensure a smooth and safe transportation experience.
  • Attend Safety and Training Meetings: Attend all safety and training meetings to stay up-to-date on the latest safety protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct Emergency Evacuations: Conduct emergency evacuations from the bus, including the use of emergency doors.
  • Perform Other Duties as Assigned: Perform other duties as assigned by the transportation team, including cleaning the inside of the bus and assisting the driver when necessary.

Requirements

  • Good Verbal Communication Skills: Possess good verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with students, parents, and school personnel.
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrate attention to detail to ensure the safety and well-being of students and passengers.
  • Early Morning Availability: Be available to work early morning shifts, as required.
  • Judgement/Problem-Solving Skills: Possess judgement and problem-solving skills to handle unexpected situations and challenges.
  • Ability to Manage High Degrees of Stress: Demonstrate the ability to manage high degrees of stress and pressure in a fast-paced transportation environment.
