Position Overview:
The Culinary Specialist will be responsible for ensuring high-quality service from the kitchen, overseeing training for kitchen staff, and maintaining sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Verify all food items against established recipes, ensuring that presentation meets our quality standards.
2. Supervise the kitchen setup prior to meal services to maximize efficiency.
3. Ensure adherence to equipment maintenance and cleanliness protocols.
4. Prepare food consistently according to recipes and portion guidelines.
5. Initiate the preparation of items that can be made in advance, avoiding overproduction.
6. Label and date all food containers, ensuring perishables are stored at appropriate temperatures.
7. Monitor inventory levels and prepare accordingly for each shift.
8. Assist in maintaining a well-stocked buffet.
9. Return unused food items to designated storage, ensuring proper labeling and dating.
10. Collaborate on strategies to address food cost issues and minimize waste.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: A minimum of one to two years in a similar role within the culinary field.
Knowledge/Skills: Familiarity with kitchen operations and the ability to perform analytical tasks.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires the ability to lift food items and equipment weighing up to 70 lbs regularly, along with bending and mobility for various kitchen tasks.
Continuous standing is expected during food preparation and service hours.
Must be able to communicate effectively and follow both verbal and written instructions.
Work Environment:
Primarily indoors, with exposure to varying temperatures in different kitchen areas.
