About the RoleThe Principal Applications Engineer will be responsible for modeling of AirJoule systems and subcomponents, with respect to mass balance, process properties, and thermal management. This role will guide experimentation to validate the models and work in tandem with the product development team to optimize AirJoule technology.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate efforts between the Applications Engineering and Product Development teams to optimize AirJoule adsorption systems.
- Develop models/simulations for AirJoule systems, interactions with environments, and AirJoule adsorption subcomponents using software such as ASPEN, Matlab, COMSOL, DWSIM, and Solidworks.
- Lead efforts to design and implement supporting infrastructure for AirJoule prototypes, including power sources, heat exchangers, communications systems, and transportation containers.
- Act as a mentor to junior employees and provide development opportunities and support.
- Work with the Applications Engineering Team to design testing campaigns with Design-of-Experiment methods, execute them with sufficient experimental rigor, compile and communicate results.
- Document experimental results in the form of PowerPoint presentations, technical report documents, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) entries.
- Train new employees in the responsibilities listed herein and similar work.
- Uphold a safe, respectful, collaborative, inclusive, and appreciative team environment.
- Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or related field required. Master's or PhD preferred.
- Minimum Experience: 8+ (post BS degree), 6+ (post MS degree), or 3+ (post PhD degree).
- Experience with simulation/modeling of processes using ASPEN, Matlab, COMSOL, DWSIM, or related software is required.
