Job Summary

The Instrument Sharpening Technician is a critical role within our organization, responsible for ensuring the proper operation and function of surgical equipment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for repairs, maintenance, and calibration of various classes of surgical instruments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform installations, regular maintenance, repairs, and calibrations on assigned surgical instruments
  • Monitor service provided by outside instrument sharpening vendors and ensure quality control
  • Establish equipment baselines, perform inspections and evaluations, and interpret test results
  • Install, repair, and calibrate most classes of surgical instruments at a component level
  • Perform planned maintenance and electrical safety inspections as assigned
  • Use diagnostic service software appropriate to the equipment being serviced
  • Help in the evaluation of new equipment, accessories, and supplies
  • Inspect incoming equipment for compliance with codes, standards, and manufacturer's instructions
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in biomedical equipment technology or electronics or equivalent military training and experience
  • Two years of experience in the surgical instrument sharpening industry
  • Valid US driver's license and ability to work in the US without Visa sponsorship
  • Access to a webcam for face-to-face interviews
  • Three to four professional references

Candidates must provide a list of all equipment training, including month/year of training, OEM or school attended, dates attended, and completion date. Resumes must have month and year of start and end dates for each position held. Must have a valid driver's license with no violations (7-10 years) and pass a criminal background check (7-10 years) and drug screening.
