Clinical Communication Specialist

About Dayton Area School Consortium
Dayton Area School Consortium is seeking a qualified Clinical Communication Specialist to serve preschool and elementary age students. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university and one to two years of previous experience in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of students and provide a therapeutic program for speech, language, and hearing handicapped children.
- Teach and evaluate students using sound speech/hearing instructional practices and prepare clear and timely lesson plans for speech/hearing disabled students.
- Maintain accurate records for individual students receiving speech and language services and provide periodic written reports consistent with the reporting schedule of the district to the parent of the handicapped child regarding the child's progress.
- Diagnose and assess student speech and hearing skills and screen students to identify speech and language problems.
- Participate in parent/teacher conferences as appropriate and counsel with colleagues, students, and parents relative to speech/hearing students.
- Coordinate notification of parents if student is not meeting goals/objectives and make referrals for medical or other professional attention necessary for the habilitation of speech or language handicaps.
- Utilize one-half to one full day per week for diagnostic testing and classroom observation; coordination of the program; conferences concerning individual children; staff development activities; scheduling of students for therapy.
Requirements:
- A Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university.
- One to two years of previous experience preferred.
- State of Ohio teacher's certification and/or certification in speech.
- Skillful communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 per year, commensurate with experience. This salary range is estimated based on national averages for Speech and Language Pathologists in Ohio.
