Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Educational Plans: Create and implement individualized plans to attain appropriate educational goals for each student, taking into account their unique needs and abilities.
- Provide a Supportive Learning Environment: Establish a classroom environment that fosters social, emotional, and cognitive growth, and provides a safe and supportive space for students to learn and thrive.
- Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with other staff members to improve the quality of the total program, share knowledge and expertise, and provide support and guidance to colleagues.
- Communicate Effectively: Develop and maintain positive, caring relationships with students, colleagues, and other stakeholders, based on respect, trust, and open communication.
- Stay Up-to-Date with Professional Development: Commit to ongoing professional growth and development, staying current with best practices and research in special education.
- Valid Teaching Certificate: Possess a valid teaching certificate in the subject area taught, or be able to obtain one within two years.
- Experience Working with Youth: Have experience working with youth, preferably in a group environment, and be able to design and provide educational plans meeting the individualized needs of students.
- Good Physical Health: Possess good physical health and be able to administer behavior management techniques.
- Ability to Work Effectively with Others: Be able to work effectively with other staff members, and demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
