Support Children and Families in Maine's Foster Care System

Woodfords Family Services is seeking a compassionate and caring Foster Family Support Worker to join our team. As a Foster Family Support Worker, you will provide one-on-one support to foster children in their foster home and community, focusing on daily living, social interaction, behavior management, and communication skills.

Program Overview

Our Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) Program provides treatment-level foster care to children 3-21 years with developmental and/or emotional disabilities who cannot reside with their biological family. With the support of trained foster parents and our treatment team, children and teens are offered guidance in navigating psychological, emotional, social, behavioral, and learning challenges with the hope and intent for family reunification and life skills growth.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one support to foster children in their foster home and community
  • Focus on daily living, social interaction, behavior management, and communication skills
  • Work closely with foster families and the treatment team to promote positive relationships and outcomes
  • Apply strong therapeutic interventions to support children's needs
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED and relevant life experience
  • Must possess at least six months experience working with children and/or families, with experience working with children who have special needs required
  • Must possess a valid State of Maine driver's license and have use of a properly insured/dependable vehicle
  • Familiarity and knowledge of typical and atypical child development, developmental disabilities/delays, and mental health needs
Benefits
  • Casual (0-19 hours) position with afternoons, evenings, and weekend availability required
  • Starting at $18.00 per hour
  • $375 Sign-on bonus paid at 6 months of employment
