Software Engineering Manager

Apple is seeking a highly motivated and self-driven Engineering Manager to oversee software development and the CloudOS release quality team.
As a leader of this team, you will have the privilege of participating in high-priority releases, driving critical software milestones for the program, and providing insights into build quality to executive teams.
This is a highly technical role where you will lead the quality efforts for OS delivery for Private cloud compute.
Collaborate with a dedicated, passionate, and intelligent engineering team and cross-functional partners to deliver the optimal user experience and create a company-wide impact.
This position entails leading team activities and collaborating with cross-functional teams on larger initiatives.
As a manager, you will play a pivotal role in the development of Apple's server products by immersing yourself in a highly collaborative and rapidly evolving environment to integrate novel technologies into our designs.
Your contributions will span the entire Apple product development lifecycle, from conceptualization to production, driving both individual product enhancements and comprehensive system validation activities.
You will work with exceptional teams in Cupertino, Seattle, and London, who possess a genuine passion for engineering and are committed to delivering features that uphold robust privacy and security guarantees for end users.
Our team and our partners encompass a diverse range of disciplines, including low-level operating systems, OS services such as daemons and frameworks, data center services, network protocols, and APIs.
You will lead a focused team on this spectrum, capable of delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines while fostering seamless cross-functional collaboration across various disciplines.
Ideally, you should possess a strong sense of motivation, drive, and a personal commitment to the products and services we are responsible for.
You should possess the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and thrive in uncertain environments.
Excellent communication skills and the capacity to establish positive relationships with both team members and partner teams are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the CloudOS Engineering team to deliver high-quality software and services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive critical software milestones and provide insights into build quality.
- Immerse yourself in a highly collaborative and rapidly evolving environment to integrate novel technologies into Apple's designs.
- Drive comprehensive system validation activities and ensure robust privacy and security guarantees for end users.
- Establish positive relationships with team members and partner teams to foster seamless cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of proven excellence in Engineering management.
- 5+ years leading a development or qualification teams.
- Sense of urgency and flexibility is key to success in this position.
- Ability to listen to others, facilitate discussions, and drive results.
- Ability to work in dynamic environment with shifting priorities and schedules.
- Expertise and proficiency in tools/framework development and using Python, C, C++, Objective-C, or Swift.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- BS or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with designs that are secure and private first.
- Self-directed: the ability to drive a project from a simple idea to production.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Passion for product ownership and track record of product development and large-scale frame working and automation development.
- Able to coordinate the efforts of multiple teams.
- Experience with developing and operating large-scale distributed systems.

- Pay & Benefits:
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range.
- This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
- The base pay range for this role is between $181,000 and $313,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
- Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
- Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
