Position Summary:
The Cirrus Research & Development (R&D) team is focused on innovating new components and technologies for the evaluation of advanced aircraft. The primary role of the R&D Assembly Specialist involves the assembly and installation of parts and systems, as well as the fabrication of components utilizing various techniques and methods. This position necessitates continuous learning of new practices and the implementation of cutting-edge industry technologies. The ideal candidate should be self-driven, possess a high level of integrity, demonstrate strong communication skills, and be comfortable collaborating within a diverse, cross-functional team.
Sign-on Bonus: This position includes a $2,000 sign-on bonus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a comprehensive skill set for assembling precision aircraft components.
- Assemble according to specifications and verify accuracy using precision measuring tools.
- Interpret mental concepts, verbal instructions, hand-drawn sketches, or technical blueprints.
- Exhibit a strong creative mindset and meticulous attention to detail.
- Visualize the entire assembly process from layout to installation.
- Safely operate hand and power tools, including drill presses, sanders, and grinders.
- Utilize various manual and pneumatic riveting tools, such as squeezes, guns, and bucking bars.
- Collaborate with a diverse group to advance technologies and designs.
- Maintain a solid understanding of general aircraft architecture, including airframe, powerplant, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Possess a foundational knowledge of metal fabrication and composite materials.
- May lead a small, diverse team of technicians.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of combined education and industry experience is preferred. Degrees in Aerospace, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Machine Technology are advantageous.
Certifications:
No specific licenses are required for this role. Additional industry certifications, such as Airframe & Powerplant or ASE Automotive, are considered beneficial.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential. Familiarity with CAD software (PTC Creo) is preferred.
