Speech Language Pathologist Role Overview

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for the organization and administration of speech and language therapy interventions as directed by a physician.

This role involves assessing, planning, directing, and implementing treatment for individuals referred for speech and language therapy, aiming to restore functionality and prevent further disability due to illness or injury.

The Speech Language Pathologist aids patients in maximizing their performance and integration into society while accommodating their disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer speech and language therapy modalities as per physician's directives.
  • Conduct evaluations and develop treatment plans for patients.
  • Facilitate patient progress towards optimal performance in daily activities.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher from an accredited institution in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year to secure the Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) within the first year of employment.
  • Valid license to practice Speech Language Pathology in the state of Indiana.
  • Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain it upon hiring.

  • Competence in basic computer applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

  • Potential exposure to high-stress situations and occupational risks.
  • Engagement with protected health information in close proximity to patients and visitors.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Physical and Cognitive Demands:

  • Deliver patient care, utilize patient care devices, and instruct on the use of adaptive tools.
  • Employ standard office equipment and clinical patient care instruments.
