Nurse Practitioner Per Diem Position at University of California Davis Health

To provide high-quality, independent advanced-level nurse practitioner clinical expertise to patients and their families on an ongoing basis. This includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols as defined by standardized procedures or independently based on licensure.
Key Responsibilities- 80% - Inpatient/Outpatient care, including non-invasive or invasive procedures, surgical procedures, and patient management decisions.
- 10% - Professional Development, including education and training.
- 5% - Quality and Evidence-Based Practice, including the implementation of best practices and quality improvement initiatives.
- 5% - Research and Education, including the development and implementation of research projects and educational programs.
- Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction.
- California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing License.
- California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction.
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate within 3 months of hire.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR.
- National NP board certification in aligned specialty with the practice area.
- National board certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
- Graduation with a master's degree, DNP or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing.
- One year or greater experience as an Adult Psych and/or Forensic nurse practitioner.
- Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by team members, other professionals, and caretakers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Judgement skills to effectively meet the needs of patients.
- Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role.
- Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider.
Work is performed with many interruptions during the day. Must be able to work effectively within a stressful, hazardous environment with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines. Willingness to work under an institutional 'No Hostage Policy.' Must be able to pass and maintain the Sacramento Sheriff Department's Security Clearance. Ability to work in a highly stressful jail custody setting, with incarcerated inmates which may present hazardous conditions, including working in a potentially crowded, malodorous, and noisy environment, of a highly restrictive and confining nature. Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends, as scheduled and assigned.
