About the Role

The Business Development Manager is a key position that will report to the Chief Commercial Officer and President, working closely with a team of Business Development professionals. This role will focus on further building existing and establishing new business in the Healthcare/Medical market, by working with prospective customers and helping them recognize the benefits of buying from Teel Plastics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop annual business plans in conjunction with Sales and Marketing teams.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies, including necessary strategic decisions to build business within target markets.
  • Evaluate and improve sales, marketing, and branding strategies at trade shows or other media.
  • Identify prospects and new markets based on Teel's capabilities.
  • Research the market, study, and understand potential customers and their needs, determine key players within potential customer organizations.
  • Proactively reach out and contact new potential customers and evaluate customer leads/those who contact Teel directly to determine if those contacts should be pursued, including follow-through on business pursuits.
  • Perform competitor analysis, including research of organizations and individuals to identify opportunities to obtain an increased market share.
  • Understand internal expertise to create opportunities and pursue appropriate new business.
  • Work independently with top management at prospective customers, playing a critical role as a representative of Teel's marketing and sales efforts.
  • Monitor revenue streams and identify opportunities to increase profitability with existing customers via pricing strategy or cost savings.
Ongoing Customer Support
  • Develop client relationships and strengthen industry partnerships.
  • Develop forecasts and work with the team to assist in moving developments into production.
  • Work with internal experts to understand Teel's capabilities and potential capabilities.
  • Gain a strong understanding of Teel's processes, capabilities, and manufacturing experience.
  • Share Teel's capabilities and experiences by building a rapport and relationship with existing and potential customers.
  • Develop and implement sales contracts, pricing agreements, and strategies in collaboration with Marketing, Legal, and Chief Commercial Officer.
  • Work with the customer on AR, terms, old inventory, and quality issues that may arise.
  • Understand businesses and opportunities that exist in the make vs. buy marketplace and consistently and effectively promote Teel's capabilities.
Business Alignment
  • Negotiate and close business agreements that promote sustained revenue.
  • Participate in and support S&OP Process, including setting forecasts, monitoring sales shipments, and communicating changes in forecasts to operation planning, engineering, and team at Teel.
  • Work with the customer on forecast, planning, and pricing to ensure Teel obtains POs to meet customer requirements and ship dates.
  • Maintain accurate and updated history of client contacts using contact management software.
  • Directly contact potential customers, making phone contact, traveling to client facilities to meet key players, conducting interviews to understand the client and the opportunities Teel can deliver on.
  • Develop and deliver presentations, preparing and delivering professional presentations outlining the opportunity and how Teel can help, selling the client on Teel's capabilities, and helping make the 'buy' decision the obvious choice.
  • Share knowledge with Marketing & Sales staff, keeping abreast of developments with other Teel customers and using that information to create new business opportunities, sharing success stories, and developing with other staff members to build business with current customers, educating the Marketing and Sales team on developments in the marketplace that impact Teel.
  • Exchange information with Product Development/Engineering, understanding Teel's technical abilities and new developments underway and sharing information on new marketplace developments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business or technical field or equivalent defined as 8+ years of specific industry experience, Master's degree a plus.
  • 5 or more years' experience within the plastic processing environment.
  • Ability to travel extensively (20-40%) by car and other modes of transportation for customer visits, conferences, trade shows, etc.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software.
  • Experience and knowledge of the Pipe market or similar related market preferred.
  • Ability to organize large amounts of information into focused priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to analyze new opportunities quickly and identify how they fit with Teel's capabilities.
  • Ability to assess and understand organizations and their internal decision-making structure to determine how best to succeed in creating a new business opportunity.
  • Ability to think and act quickly and interact with senior management personnel in many different organizations and cultures.
Compensation and Benefits

This position will be paid as Exempt Salaried commensurate with experience in addition to being eligible for sales commission program. Teel provides strong health, dental, vision, life, disability coverages. Additional supplemental benefits which employees can elect at their cost including Teel provides Retirement Savings program and contribution match upon hire. Teel offers Paid Time Off program starting at 120 hours/year in addition to Paid Holidays as well as Paid Paternity leave program.
