Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Apprentice to join our team at Winn-Marion Companies. As an Electrical Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Journeyman and Master Electricians while working towards licensure as an electrician.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical work under the supervision of a licensed electrician, including assembling, installing, testing, and inspecting electrical equipment.
  • Identify safety risks and take necessary precautions to eliminate them.
  • Work well with a team and individually to complete tasks.
  • Assemble and install electrical equipment, terminate wires and cables, and test electrical components for continuity and proper voltage readings.
  • Inspect electrical equipment and components to identify hazards and ensure they are in good operational condition.
  • Setup and maintain temporary power systems and install and maintain grounding systems for all equipment and structures.
  • Illustrate knowledge and experience of working with a lockout/tagout system.
  • Be available for assistance in callouts on emergency outages or problems.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Some experience in the electrical industry is preferred.
  • Must be able to identify basic safety hazards and know how to avoid them.
  • Experience with running and troubleshooting heat trace is a plus.
  • Experience with general hand tools and power tools.
  • Basic electrical theory knowledge required, such as ohms law.
  • Must be able to perform extremely physical labor, such as digging, lifting, and pulling for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle, including a trailer and heavy loads.
  • Must be able to follow instructions closely and follow leadership well.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge of components.
  • Be able to identify different types, gauges, and colors of cables and wires.
  • Knowledge of oil field drill sites and the necessary electrical requirements common to such locations is preferred.
  • Experience working in pure industrial facilities, power plants, manufacturing operations, or similar sites is preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Must be willing to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to follow instructions from a supervisor.
  • Able to make it to work on time and work the designated schedule and any overtime as needed with limited notification.
  • Responsible for obtaining E-Certs or proper licensing.
  • Ability to travel to other work sites and remote locations as necessary.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and record allowing for insurance coverage.
  • Must be able to push, pull, or lift up to 60 lbs.
