Job Summary

The Strategic Development Director will lead the implementation of an integrated resource development and advancement strategy to build Brightpoint's financial resources, visibility, and reputational impact. This individual will be responsible for raising private and public dollars to support our annual operating budget and strategic funding priorities; directing volunteer engagement; and managing donor communication and marketing.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, including major gifts, annual giving, special events, corporate and foundation relations, prospect research, planned gifts, volunteers, donor communications, donor and volunteer marketing, and e-philanthropy.
  • Manage donor marketing and communications to support advancement and fundraising activities.
  • Identify and pursue new revenue streams, with a focus on increasing sustainable unrestricted revenue.
  • Leverage programmatic, endowment, and capital elements to launch successful campaigns that align with our strategic plan.
  • Oversee and maintain a personal portfolio of major donors.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward donor portfolios, staffed by the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) and CEO.
  • Support the Resource Development and Board Affairs committees.
  • Recruit and engage volunteer leadership, including the Board of Trustees, to increase their effectiveness in fundraising.
  • Establish gift policies and protocols that support fundraising goals, including moving to a portfolio-based moves management system.
  • Collaborate between private funding, public grants, contracts, advocacy, and data collection and research to ensure alignment in support of family-centric, upstream, and antiracist program development.
Requirements

To succeed as our Strategic Development Director, you must possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10+ years' experience in a related field, preferably in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven success in managing a comprehensive advancement program.
  • Exceptional management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment.
  • The ability to plan for and meet fundraising goals from multiple sources and using various strategies.
  • Experience with campaign management and strength in major gifts fundraising.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to serve as a public spokesperson for Brightpoint.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Raiser's Edge, and wealth screening.
  • A strong understanding of inclusive leadership principles, relationship-based leadership models, and their application in diverse organizational settings.

Brightpoint offers a competitive salary range of $130,000-$160,000, commensurate with candidate qualifications and experience.
