About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Packaging R&D Engineer Intern to join our team at Michael Foods. As a Packaging R&D Engineer Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including the development and commercialization of new packaging solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the identification of new opportunities for packaging innovation and cost reduction
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new packaging solutions
  • Plan, execute, and analyze plant or lab trials to test new packaging concepts
  • Review and approve technical specifications for packaging materials and processes
  • Coordinate packaging timelines to meet company milestones
  • Prepare and present results of technical reports to business teams
  • Gain a working knowledge of packaging principles and operating systems
  • Maintain awareness of technical trends and developments in the packaging industry
Requirements
  • Pursuing a four-year undergraduate or graduate degree in Packaging Science or equivalent Engineering discipline
  • Proven leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter with initiative to identify areas of opportunity and take action
  • High level of competence in computer applications and ability to use technology as a decision-support tool
  • Ability to identify and evaluate tactical methods to achieve objectives
  • Ability to handle confidential information and use discretion within and outside of the organization
