Engineering/Planning/Surveying Technician I

This is an entry-level position in the technician series, requiring the application of established techniques, procedures, practices, and methods to less complex assignments. The successful candidate will work under close supervision of a technical superior, ensuring compliance with design plans, materials specifications, safety requirements, construction processes, local, state, and federal codes, and ongoing maintenance requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect infrastructures to ensure compliance with design plans, materials specifications, safety requirements, construction processes, local, state, and federal codes, and ongoing maintenance requirements; document and report compliance or deficiencies.
- Design, develop, and review engineering project/site layouts, alignments, profiles, studies, graphs, and other related activities.
- Compile and record notes, sketches, test results, inspection data, and other information to document compliance and/or develop designs, specifications, reports, maps, and other geographically based data.
- Conduct various studies to analyze needs, develop plans, record characteristics, and other related activities.
- Conduct data analysis to determine accuracy of data collected, develop recommendations, develop corrective designs, and ensure compliance.
- Test and evaluate the quality of materials or designs to verify adherence to contracts and specifications.
- Obtain survey data, such as angles, elevations, points, and contours, using electronic distance measuring equipment and other surveying instruments.
- Calculate and measure area and volume dimensions, horizontal and vertical geometry, profile, and component specifications, and material testing dimensions using calculators or computers.
- Operate computer-assisted drafting equipment or other tools of the trade.
- Read and interpret plans, specifications, blueprints, and other engineering documents.
The ideal candidate will possess education, training, and/or experience demonstrating competence in the following areas:
- Engineering Support Survey:
- Knowledge of applied mathematical computations, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Knowledge of interpreting construction plans and details, schematics, or technical drawings.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
