Diagnostic Imaging Specialist - CT X-Ray Technologist

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist - CT X-Ray Technologist to join our team at Family Hospital Systems. As a key member of our medical imaging team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate CT scanners to produce detailed images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes.
  • Follow physician orders precisely and adhere to safety regulations to protect patients, staff, and yourself.
  • Prepare patients for CT scans, ensuring they are comfortable and informed throughout the process.
  • Position patients correctly to obtain the best imaging results while prioritizing their safety.
  • Select appropriate imaging techniques and adjust the CT machine to optimize scan quality.
  • Administer contrast media as required, following strict protocols to avoid complications.
  • Monitor patients during scans, being alert to any signs of distress or complications.
  • Review and evaluate images to determine if additional scans are needed.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, documenting all procedures completed and any issues encountered during scans.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on CT equipment, reporting any malfunctions or inconsistencies.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare team members to discuss diagnostic imaging and refine scanning protocols.
  • Implement radiation safety measures to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of CT scanning protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in continuing education to stay current with advancements in CT technology and diagnostic techniques.

Requirements:

  • Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • State licensure to perform radiographic procedures (if required by the state)
  • Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program - Prior experience in CT imaging preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Proficient with CT equipment and able to perform routine maintenance
  • Knowledge of radiation safety guidelines and protocols
  • Ability to position patients properly for CT scans
  • Familiarity with contrast materials and ability to administer them as needed
  • Strong understanding of cross-sectional anatomy
  • Excellent patient care and communication skills - Detail-oriented with the ability to keep accurate records
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical ability to assist patients of varying mobility and weight
  • Capability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing education and training
  • Proficiency in using healthcare software and electronic medical records (EMR) systems
