The Technologist will obtain or receive specimens, perform laboratory tests following established procedures, comprehend methods and principles, and conduct daily quality control evaluations, promptly informing the Administrative Director or Manager of any issues.
The Technologist will also perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment, interpret results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits, and organize work to meet established deadlines while documenting all data obtained.
Collaboration with nursing and other hospital staff is essential to ensure timely patient care.Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from an accredited institution and have successfully passed a national certification examination approved by the State Board. Alternatively, candidates may have completed three years of academic study with a minimum of 90 semester hours in biological or physical sciences, along with 12 months of training at an accredited medical technology school, and passed a national certification examination. A Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science, combined with at least one year of relevant experience or training in the specialty, is also acceptable.
A current State license (to be obtained within six months of hire) or provisional license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, or General Supervisor license, is required if working independently.
Generalist experience across all laboratory areas is preferred.
