Position Overview

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is a pivotal role within the organization, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the CTO is entrusted with overseeing the strategic direction and governance of the institution's information technology framework and support services.

  • Collaborate with university leadership, faculty, and staff to articulate and advance technology initiatives that align with institutional goals.
  • Manage a team of administrative and academic technology support personnel, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to the university community.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for information technology services that supports the university's mission and objectives.
  • Oversee budget management, personnel decisions, and policy formulation related to technology services.
  • Establish an effective governance structure for information technology to prioritize and allocate resources for new technology investments.
  • Promote the integration of information technology and cybersecurity within academic and administrative functions.
  • Lead efforts to enhance the application of technology across the organization, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Engage with divisional leaders and external partners to secure support for technology needs and foster collaborative relationships.
  • Work closely with the Information Security Officer to implement and maintain a robust information security program.

Departmental Leadership

The CTO provides strategic oversight for centralized information technology services, encompassing a wide range of functions including:

  • Enterprise and academic technology strategy
  • Information security and training
  • User support and workplace technology
  • Application management and development
  • Data management and analytics
  • Network services and technology installation

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A strong commitment to fostering a collaborative and service-oriented environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate complex situations and diverse personalities.
  • Proven experience in effective communication, both verbal and written, to various audiences.
  • In-depth knowledge of current trends and challenges in information technology and cybersecurity.

  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and their application in academic settings.

Education and Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of ten years of progressive leadership experience in information technology services within a large organization.
  • A Master's degree or higher in information technology or a related field.
