Position: Fabric Worker (Seamstress)

About the Role:

The Fabric Worker is responsible for executing alterations and repairs on both military and civilian clothing. Key tasks include:

  • Adjusting garment sizes through techniques such as pinning, basting, and trimming.
  • Modifying sleeves, waists, and lengths of various garments.
  • Replacing zippers, collars, and pockets as needed.
  • Taking precise body measurements to ensure optimal fit.
  • Processing special requests from customers, including the application of insignia and awards.

Operational Duties:

The role involves the operation of sewing machines and maintaining a tidy workspace. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Managing cash register operations and ensuring accurate financial transactions.
  • Utilizing computer systems for communication and record-keeping.
  • Providing excellent customer service with professionalism and courtesy.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires physical stamina, including standing, bending, and prolonged periods of sitting while sewing. Frequent use of hands and fingers is essential.

Work Environment:

Work is conducted in well-lit and ventilated areas, with potential exposure to minor injuries from sewing tools and materials.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  1. One year of relevant experience in garment alterations and repairs.

Preferred:

  1. Completion of one year of high school education may substitute for three months of general experience.
