Mechanical Technician

As a Combustion Lab Mechanical Technician at GE Aerospace, you will work collaboratively with a team of researchers to develop innovative combustion technologies for our products, including gas turbines and jet engines.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in designing, building, and instrumenting sophisticated test rigs.
- Conduct experiments using various measurement tools and techniques in fluid dynamics and thermal systems.
- Procure parts and materials to build prototype mechanical and electrical hardware.
- Assemble complex prototype models for testing in combustion flow rigs.
- Maintain and upgrade large experimental systems that require high pressures, elevated temperatures, and large flows.
- Operate compressor systems, preheaters, and exhauster/blowers.
- Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in laboratory or research work.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize basic designs to build quality hardware.
- Basic knowledge of flow characterization equipment, thermocouples, pressure transducers, and data acquisition systems.
- Familiarity with machine shop equipment such as mills, grinders, and lathes.
- Ability to understand and use service documentation.
- Ability to work during first shift, with the possible requirement to work 2nd or 3rd shift under some situations.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
