About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Solar Project Developer/Permitting Lead to join our team at SunEnergy1. As a key member of our business development team, you will be responsible for originating and developing utility-scale solar projects from conception to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Originate and develop utility-scale solar projects, including site control negotiation, project permitting, and utility interconnection.
  • Craft compelling value propositions that reflect avoided costs, load profiles, applicable tariffs, and layered revenue streams.
  • Collaborate with junior business development staff to develop and implement effective lead campaign strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with site owners, energy users, and other project stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders and community members to facilitate project permitting and other initiatives.
  • Manage development schedules and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective projects.
  • Manage external consultants as needed for project permitting activities.
  • Foster support from state, county, and local governments, community groups, and abutters.
  • Support internal finance, engineering, and construction teams to facilitate successful project financing and construction.
  • Develop sales presentations, proposals, and other materials to support project development efforts.
Requirements
  • Three or more years of energy industry experience in a business development role, with at least one year in utility-scale development.
  • Integration of PV and energy storage systems preferred.
  • Commercial real estate prospecting and business model understanding.
  • Effective team leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to SunEnergy1's mission and a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond the organization.
  • Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
  • Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
