Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for employing the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to deliver personalized nursing care to residents. Collaborates with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members, including healthcare providers, to plan, execute, and assess care. Demonstrates proficiency and operates within the full scope of nursing practice, adhering to age-specific standards relevant to their clinical environment. Provides care across all phases of preventive health, maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment. Responsible for coordinating care, conducting resident assessments, providing education, and performing various nursing interventions.
May act as the charge nurse, delegating appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed personnel, ensuring that all actions align with job descriptions, skills, resident care needs, and the competencies of the delegates. Offers necessary support to ensure safe and effective administration of resident care and addresses any care-related concerns. Functions within the established scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules relevant to the state of practice and licensure. The Sanford Professional Nursing Practice acknowledges the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation for nursing care delivery and professional conduct.
Qualifications
Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program is preferred, including, but not limited to, institutions recognized by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
Must possess an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing in the state of practice and/or maintain multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Must obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
