Job Opportunity at San Diego Charter Inc

We are seeking a skilled Bus Mechanic to join our team at San Diego Charter Inc, a reputable family-owned bus business. As a bus mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing issues with vehicle performance and function.

The majority of our fleet consists of Ford diesel buses equipped with 6.7 Ford and Cummings motors. You must have an in-depth understanding of all vehicle systems and components, including engine, transmission, and brakes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair vehicles coming into the shop
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance tasks, such as 45-day inspections, oil changes, and brake pad replacements
  • Conduct in-depth vehicle inspections of all systems
  • Create repair timelines and convey information to the office for scheduling
  • Maintain accurate repair shop records and paperwork
  • Ensure a high level of safety in the workplace
  • Manage inventory of stock parts

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Associate degree or completion of an automotive service technician training program is preferred
  • Automotive Service Excellence/ASE certification or Society of Automotive Engineers/SAE certification is preferred
  • Strong experience and communication skills are required
