Job Overview

Turner's Outdoorsman is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in the daily operations of the store. This role involves training and supervising employees, interacting with customers, managing inventory levels, achieving sales goals, and handling various tasks assigned by the Store Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of hourly employees to ensure excellent customer service and a high-value shopping experience.
  • Meet budgeted sales goals while effectively managing labor costs and minimizing shrinkage.
  • Advertise and promote Turner's Outdoorsman products and events.
  • Promote a team-oriented environment and distribute work assignments to employees.
  • Train, motivate, and develop employees to achieve their full potential.
  • Assist in all aspects of store operations, including office management, cash handling, and register functions.
  • Maintain and track merchandise stock levels, display merchandise effectively, and adhere to firearm compliance laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including covering employee breaks and lunches in other departments as needed.
  • Occasional travel may be required for events, training seminars, and corporate meetings.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required; college graduate or some college preferred.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to work Sundays.
  • At least 2 years of prior retail and sales experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Knowledge of hunting, fishing, or shooting sports is preferred.
  • Legally eligible to work in a firearm environment.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Certificate of Eligibility Required.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Responsible for loading/unloading trucks, lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to use both hands when handling a firearm.
  • Proficient in using a computer and grasping new software programs.
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, and lift throughout the scheduled shift.
