Assistant Store Manager

Turner's Outdoorsman is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in the daily business operations of the store. Key responsibilities include training and supervising employees, interacting with customers, managing inventory levels, achieving sales goals, and handling other tasks assigned by the Store Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a staff of hourly employees.
- Provide excellent customer service and ensure customers enjoy a high-value shopping experience.
- Accountable for meeting budgeted sales by setting daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals while effectively managing labor costs and minimizing shrinkage.
- Effectively advertise and promote Turner's Outdoorsman products and events.
- Promote a teaming environment.
- Schedule employee shifts and break times in accordance with state and federal laws.
- Distribute work assignments to employees.
- Train, motivate, supervise, and develop employees.
- Responsible for assisting in all aspects of store operations, including office management, supervision of accurate cash handling, and register functions, maintaining and tracking proper merchandise stock levels, displaying merchandise effectively, maintaining and ensuring completion of firearms paperwork, achieving firearms inventory integrity, adhering to firearm compliance laws, regulations, and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including covering employee breaks and/or lunches in other departments as needed.
- Occasional travel is required (approximately 20% of the time) for events, training seminars, corporate meetings, or opening new store locations as needed.
- Hours: at least 45 hours per week are required, with varied overtime as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate (or GED) required, college graduate or some college preferred.
- Fluent in English.
- Must be able to work Sundays.
- Must have at least 2 years of prior retail and sales experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Knowledge about Hunting, Fishing, or Shooting sports is preferred.
- Legally eligible to work in a firearm environment.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Certificate of Eligibility Required.
- Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Requests for time off may or may not be granted during black-out periods.
Physical Requirements:
- Responsible for loading/unloading trucks, lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Must be able to use both hands when handling a firearm.
- Must be able to use a computer proficiently and grasp instruction to new software programs.
- Must be able to stand, sit, bend, and lift throughout the course of a scheduled shift.
