Job Overview

The LaSalle Network is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Supply Chain Operations Manager to oversee the transportation function, ensuring optimal service at the lowest cost. This critical role will lead the Logistics Department, supervising around 10 employees and providing leadership and guidance.

About the Role

This key position involves developing strategies and objectives for the transportation function, setting budgets and establishing policies and procedures that align with the company's goals. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of transportation contracts, transportation law, and carrier operations, including fleet management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and Oversee a Comprehensive Transportation Network: Develop and manage relationships with external service providers and vendors to ensure efficient and effective transportation services.
  • Meet or Exceed Transportation-Related KPIs: Regularly review performance against established metrics, implementing corrective actions as needed to maintain high levels of service and control expenses.
  • Provide Strategic Leadership: Develop programs that meet the evolving needs of internal and external customers, leveraging expertise in Transportation Management Systems.
  • Leverage Expertise in Transportation Management Systems: Covering functions such as planning, dispatch, carrier portals, and dock scheduling to optimize transportation operations.
  • Oversee Day-to-Day Transportation Operations: Ensure goals are met, and team efforts align with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Supervise a Team: Delegating tasks, monitoring progress, and conducting performance reviews to foster growth and accountability within the team.
  • Manage the Department's Budget: Control expenses and regularly review performance against established metrics.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree: In Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field required; an MBA is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Relevant Management Experience: At least 6 years of experience in transportation management, ideally with experience managing relationships with external service providers and vendors.
  • In-Depth Knowledge: Proven experience in transportation contracts, transportation law, and carrier operations, including fleet management.
  • Expert Understanding: Of the transportation industry, supply chain processes, best practices, and compliance regulations.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Capable of delivering executive-level presentations and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Benefits and Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
