The University of Georgia is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Graduate Research Assistant to join our team in the Department of Plant Pathology. As a Graduate Research Assistant, you will contribute to a project involving insect-transmitted virus, characterization, and epidemiology of crops grown in the region, including vegetables, peanuts, and tobacco.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on virus-vector and virus-host interaction in crops important to Georgia
  • Apply genomics approach for host resistance against viruses in cotton crops
  • Disseminate research outcomes through conferences, symposia, and peer-reviewed research articles

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Agricultural Science or related field
  • Experience in plant virology labs and exposure to field, greenhouse, and molecular labs
  • Knowledge of molecular techniques and field analysis
  • Physical demands include light lifting, standing, and/or sitting for extended periods

Working Conditions

  • This position has security access and requires a background investigation
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo a background check and provide documentation of their eligibility for employment with the University of Georgia
