Position Overview: The Lead Software Quality Assurance Engineer will play a crucial role in crafting test scenarios, documenting findings, establishing and managing automated testing frameworks, and facilitating SIL / HWIL testing activities, along with flight evaluations to empower Shield AI in creating the leading AI pilot. This role involves collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders, including technicians, software developers, and management, to communicate insights and enhance the testing of comprehensive modular software for both aerial and terrestrial evaluations. Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle to create test strategies, test scenarios, and execute testing of software functionalities.
- Analyze CONOPS and customer specifications to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
- Assist in Hardware-In-The-Loop (HIL), simulation (SIL), and flight evaluations for Shield AI's autonomy software.
- Establish and manage automated testing and reporting frameworks as required.
- Facilitate the delivery of high-quality software releases consistently to meet customer requirements.
- Identify testing gaps and implement strategies to address them.
- Co-manage test coverage for all Hivemind Edge software alongside the Hivemind Testing team.
- Document findings and liaise with software and hardware teams to resolve issues and ensure closure.
- Drive enhancements in testing frameworks and processes.
- Address challenges and optimize software architecture across all levels of the stack, from kernel to third-party and internal libraries.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
- 4+ years of professional experience as a software engineer.
- 2+ years of experience in software quality assurance engineering.
- Expertise in developing test harnesses for production-grade software.
- Skilled in designing test metrics.
- Extensive experience in automated testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with ROS or similar robotics frameworks.
- Experience with simulation frameworks such as Gazebo.
- Proficient in integrating robotic software with hardware platforms.
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools like Jenkins.
- Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
- Experience in testing Object-Oriented Design, Distributed Systems, and Service-Oriented Architectures.
- A proven track record of diligence, reliability, maintaining high standards, and fostering a supportive team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively debug unfamiliar software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for documenting and presenting findings to diverse audiences.
- Master's degree in computer science or a related field.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Technical proficiency in integrating and validating software distributed systems.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies like Docker and Virtual Machines.
- Knowledge of database technologies such as MySQL, Oracle, and MongoDB.
- Understanding of SysML and version control systems like Git.
- Basic networking knowledge.
- Experience in the autonomous vehicle, UAV, or related autonomy sectors.
