Job Summary:

A Field Technician is responsible for assisting in start-up commissioning, integration, emergency service, and troubleshooting of E+I Engineering medium voltage electrical switchgear, circuit breakers, protective relays, PLCs, meters, and other automated devices, as well as mechanical repairs and modifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in start-up commissioning, integration, emergency service, and troubleshooting of E+I Engineering 15KVAC electrical switchgear
  • Establish, promote, and maintain excellent rapport with all customers, co-workers, sales representatives, and others as appropriate
  • Evaluate the operating conditions of equipment
  • Interact comfortably with all levels of internal and external customers
  • Manage one's own schedule
  • Perform general and preventive maintenance on switchgear
  • Respond to emergency calls at customer's request
  • Strive to provide all customers a 'first time fix' for their equipment
  • Provide accurate and timely communication to internal and external customers
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, guidelines, and laws
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of timecards, expense reports, etc.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of hands-on Medium Voltage switchgear or field services is desired
  • Training in electrical theory and technologies
  • Experience and/or prior military service performing applicable job duties
  • Familiarity with electrical/electronic test equipment and fundamentals
  • Reading schematics and blueprints for power control, automation is desired
  • Power distribution, AC/DC, Voltage Circuit Theory, and practical troubleshooting skills is desired
  • Background in electrical power, including medium voltage, and experience with most types of switchgear testing is a plus
  • Experience with programming PLCs and HMIs is a plus
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Standard computer skills, including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to consistently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent standing
  • Frequent kneeling/crawling/stooping
  • Frequent bending/twisting
  • Frequent climbing (stairs, ladders)
  • Frequent driving (car, van, truck)

Environmental Demands:

  • Extreme cold (below 32*)
  • Extreme heat (above 100*)
  • Noise Level (Medium/High need to shout to be heard)
  • Working around moving machinery (fork-lifts, tractors)
  • Protective Equipment Required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask, etc.)
  • Work outdoors (no effective protection from weather)
