Position Overview:

The Family Support Intervention Specialist will be an integral part of the PADRE program, which aims to support parents struggling with substance use disorders or those at risk of developing such issues. This role is crucial in helping families flourish.

The primary objective is to implement a structured and coordinated educational strategy that mitigates the impact of substance use within families while enhancing access to community resources and evidence-based education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent the program at relevant community meetings and familiarize yourself with local resources to facilitate referrals and address the needs of targeted populations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Practice Coordinator and relevant social service and behavioral health programs at Wellness Pointe.
  • Engage with other pertinent programs, including faith-based organizations, to identify suitable candidates for the PADRE initiative.
  • Maintain close communication with patients to keep them engaged in the healthcare system during pregnancy and facilitate referrals to substance abuse treatment services as necessary.
  • Report any immediate concerns or issues to staff promptly.
  • Assist senior staff in developing new program components and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a minimum of an Associate's Degree in a behavioral health discipline, or have two years of case management experience in a behavioral health setting. Preferred qualifications include being a Qualified Credentialed Counselor (QCC), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), LCDC-Intern, LPC-Associate, or Certified Criminal Justice Addiction Professionals-Applicant (CCJP-A).

Additionally, candidates should have:

  • Knowledge of available prenatal care systems and postpartum services.
  • The ability to conduct screenings, assessments, service plans, and follow-ups with identified patients.
  • A valid Texas Driver's License, with an appropriate driving record and auto liability insurance that meets state requirements.
  • Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position.

  • Effective communication skills in large group settings and the ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Proficiency in documenting daily activities in the CMBHS System.
  • An understanding of the program's overall goals and the ability to implement activities that align with these objectives.
  • Up-to-date and accurate documentation practices.
  • Energy, creativity, and high ethical standards, along with a professional demeanor.
  • The capability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite.
  • Strong human relations and communication skills, as well as superior organizational and problem-solving abilities.
