Job Summary

The Portfolio Manager will partner with the Banker to support the growth and development of the loan portfolio. This role involves ongoing asset management, regularly scheduled reviews of overall asset quality, and evaluating performance against original underwriting expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Establish and maintain favorable relationships with current and prospective clients.
  2. Identify and capture opportunities to cross-sell additional loan and other bank products to clients.
  3. Provide support to Underwriting, Credit, and the Senior Credit Risk Officer in managing loans and pipeline.
  4. Assist in the sales process, including accompanying the lenders on client and prospect calls.
  5. Prepare Level of Interest memos and term sheets as requested.
  6. Analyze clients' needs and assess their financial position and credit worthiness.
  7. Make critical decisions regarding credit risk.
  8. Assist with negotiating terms, structuring loan financing costs, and presenting credits for approval.
  9. Partner with the borrower to provide a preliminary assessment of the necessity of an extension or modification.
  10. Analyze credits and make recommendations for extensions or modifications.
  11. Report on the overall portfolio, including ongoing financial reviews and assessing asset quality.
Qualifications
  1. At least 3 years of commercial banking, underwriting, or portfolio management and structuring experience.
  2. Formal credit training, preferred.
  3. Knowledge of commercial banking products and services, including credit analysis, underwriting, and treasury management products and services.
  4. Demonstrated strong financial acumen and high-level problem-solving skills.
  5. Salesforce/nCino experience is preferred.
  6. Effective communicator, results-oriented, and able to excel in high-pressure situations.
  7. Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate long-term relationships and influence others internally and externally.
  8. Proven performer in a fast-paced service-oriented role, ideally from a commercial banking environment.
  9. Proficient technical skills with the Internet and in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  10. Bachelor's degree with exposure to Finance, Business, or Economics courses, preferred or equivalent work experience.
  11. An advanced degree and/or ongoing banking seminars and other resources, preferred.
