Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CNC Setup Machinist Team Lead to join our team at Primus Metals Inc. As a key member of our manufacturing operations team, you will be responsible for leading and directing the performance and production of our manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct production personnel and processes, including production control, quality control, safety, and ISO documentation.
  • Work with internal teams to maintain customer satisfaction of assigned work orders.
  • Set up and operate CNC Mills and/or Lathes, and train and develop CNC Operators.
  • Troubleshoot programs and ensure proper setup and operation of machines.
  • Monitor and manage risk items to ensure mitigating actions are effective and timely.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Supervise employees involved in daily operations and production of parts.
  • Set team goals and deadlines, and delegate tasks to ensure achievement of established objectives.
  • Train, develop, and coach employees to improve performance and engagement.
  • Manage human and material resources to meet production targets.
  • Maintain safety throughout the plant and manage schedule for safety training.
  • Promote shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among all employees.
  • Take responsibility for the care and use of all company-owned equipment.
  • Identify training needs and participate in company training programs as required.

Requirements:

  • Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Superior MS Office knowledge, especially in Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to delegate tasks.
  • Thorough attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of 5S principles and root cause analysis.
  • Proven ability to lead and drive employee engagement and accountability.
  • Solutions-oriented.
  • Capacity to analyze and problem-solve.
  • High self-initiative with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • High School Diploma/GED with 3+ years of machining experience.
  • Ability to set up CNC Mills and/or Lathes.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, print reading, and mathematics and manufacturing processes.
  • Being a team player is essential to achieve success in this position.
  • In-depth knowledge of performance metrics.
  • Strong aptitude for organization and time management.
  • Experience and confidence in making decisions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical knowledge of the industry to effectively answer questions and guide employees in all facets of the production process.
  • Positive and professional attitude.
  • Reliable.
  • Experience decreasing turnaround times.
  • Ability to streamline work processes.
  • Understanding of ISO standards is desired.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a CNC set-up machinist.
  • 3-axis Mastercam programming experience a plus.
