Personal Lines Insurance Specialist

Job Summary:
Braishfield Associates is seeking a skilled Personal Lines Underwriter to review and evaluate insurance applications, classify and rate risks, and make recommendations for acceptance or rejection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze applicants' relevant history and records to determine the level of risk for insuring new business, renewals, and policy changes.
- Make recommendations for risks on acceptance of an application, renewal, or policy change.
- Provide quote proposals for new business and policy changes that are clear, concise, and address the needs of the customer per Quality Control guidelines.
- Follow carriers' guidelines as well as state and federal regulations, discussing opportunities for consideration with the team leader.
- Build and maintain relationships with retail agents and companies.
- Identify retail agencies for growth potential.
- Assist retail agents in problems with an account, researching and discussing with carriers.
- Gather and provide feedback from retail agents on market conditions and report findings to the division leader.
- Attend virtual conference calls and team meetings to facilitate learning, communication, and understanding among teammates to ensure policies and guidelines are met.
- Assist with ongoing performance of accounts as assigned by the team leader.
- Evaluate insurance claims for modifications to accounts and/or determine if underwriting activity is needed.
- May train or supervise junior-level assistants.
- Verify complete and proper coding.
- Perform other policy servicing-related tasks, including but not limited to:
- Setting up new and renewal client records.
- Binding new and renewal policies.
- Issuing policies as necessary.
- Following up for missing file documentation (loss runs, applications, etc.).
- Issuing, invoicing, and processing endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements, and non-renewals; or other policy servicing tasks.
- Ordering loss control reports, reviewing reports, sending recommendations, and following up for compliance of recommendations.
Requirements:
- High school or equivalent education.
- 2-20 or other state property and casualty equivalent license.
- 3-5 years of personal lines insurance experience with a wholesale broker, MGA, or carrier.
- Sales and production-driven mentality.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite.
- Experience in working in a paperless environment with strong PC skills.
- Exceptional telephone demeanor.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Must be detail-oriented and possess the ability to multitask.
