Battery Cell Manufacturing Equipment Specialist

Job Summary:
Human Technologies, Inc is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our team in Memphis, Tennessee. As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for contributing to the development, installation, and implementation of battery cell manufacturing equipment. This is a full-time, onsite position that requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 3-4 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement battery cell manufacturing equipment
- Manage equipment suppliers or internal design teams
- Develop station requirements and material flow strategy
- Identify utilities needed and utility distribution strategy
- Complete process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA)
- Develop equipment timing charts and oversee equipment installation
- Develop equipment validation plans and execute them
- Create detailed Manufacturing Instructions to document new processes

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent
- Minimum of 3-4 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with multiple new equipment design/installations and large manufacturing lines implementation
- Proficiency in industrial engineering concepts such as line balancing and timing charts
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
- Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred, Catia is a plus) for designing mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling
- Understanding of tolerance stack-up and manufacturing equipment safety systems (Safety PLCs, safety category requirements, robot safety, safety guarding, light curtains, LOTO, etc.)
- PLC controls experience (Allen Bradley, Siemens, and/or Beckhoff)
- Experience with MES and database system architecture and data tracking; Python and/or MYSQL experience
What the Job Will Look Like:
- Contributing to the development, installation, and implementation of battery cell manufacturing equipment
- Taking equipment from rough concepts to full production
- Managing equipment suppliers or internal design teams through development and deployment milestones
- Developing station requirements, including work content, automation vs. manual processes, buffering strategy, and redundancy requirements
- Working with industrial engineering to develop material flow strategy within the factory
- Identifying utilities needed and utility distribution strategy (PDPs, compressed air, process water, etc.)
- Completing process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA)
- Developing equipment timing charts
- Overseeing equipment installation and coordinating with building and utilities teams
- Developing equipment validation plans and executing them
- Creating detailed Manufacturing Instructions to document new processes
