Job Summary

CAS is seeking a Materials Science Product Manager to join our Product Management Team. This role will be located in our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

Position Summary

CAS is looking for an entrepreneurial, scientifically-minded individual to help further our information product innovation in the materials sciences. This role requires a unique blend of business and scientific savvy, a big-picture vision, and the drive to realize that vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define product requirements, construct strategic and product roadmaps, and develop a vision for materials science at CAS in collaboration with leadership.
  • Remain knowledgeable of new trends and needs in the market and integrate the ever-changing business environment into the tactical and strategic plans.
  • Serve as the internal and external subject matter expert for materials sciences product offerings, working with the sales channel and key clients.
  • Work with Sales and Marketing Support to assist with the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customers.
  • Develops strategy to drive growth programmatically in opportune or needed areas in Material Sciences.
  • Drives customer surveys, and user testing to inform product priorities.
  • Monitors key product analytics to inform development priorities.
  • Establishes and leverages effective relationships with customers, thought leaders, and sales.
  • Understands competitive context.
  • Provides direction as to relevant customer segments to target for research.
Requirements
  • Masters or Ph.D. in a scientific domain related to materials science/engineering research or chemistry.
  • 5+ years of practical experience and strong working knowledge of scientific research and development in polymer materials (or other high-performance materials).
  • Direct experience with the business aspects of building and selling software products a plus.
  • Strong formal and informal communication.
  • Able to create compelling communication materials to support the logic behind recommendations and decisions.
  • Able to effectively interact with customers, address their questions and concerns, and leverage active listening skills to assess product opportunities and risks.
  • Able to manage negotiations with limited supervision or instruction.
  • Able to effectively lead projects and drive successful outcomes.
  • Strong management skills leading large cross-functional initiatives.
  • Effectively uses influence to lead projects, able to influence the performance of others through effective collaboration.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively using research and data to drive complex decisions.
  • Able to establish relevant metrics with little direction.
  • Able to complete and apply financial modeling tools and techniques.
  • Firm understanding of ROI and ability to apply as a decision-making tool.
