Internship Overview:

Our internship program serves as a launchpad for aspiring engineers and innovators. As a Cybersecurity Engineering Intern at Sigma, you will delve into various domains of Cyber Security, gaining hands-on experience in security engineering for expansive systems and environments. You will engage directly with our engineers, product leaders, and designers, fostering a collaborative atmosphere. Internship Program Requirements:

  • Current Enrollment: You must be actively enrolled in a university undergraduate or graduate program in the U.S. with a graduation date of December 2024 or later.
  • Work Authorization: You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. during the internship program.
  • Location: Candidates should be located within the San Francisco Bay Area or be willing to relocate for the internship. Relocation assistance is available for those who require it.
  • Availability: A commitment to a full-time schedule (40 hours per week) in a hybrid work model is expected, with a minimum of three days in the office for collaborative efforts.

Role Responsibilities:

This internship is structured to expose you to a variety of security tasks typical for entry-level security analysts. You will tackle Sigma's essential security and data protection challenges, becoming part of a dynamic team focused on cyber resilience, incident response, and technical implementation. Your role will encompass:

  • Engaging in security design reviews, conducting research, and documenting controls and remediation strategies to safeguard information and systems.
  • Assessing the technical and business implications of identified security vulnerabilities and offering remediation recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Participating in rotations with our broader Security team, gaining insights into specific Cyber domains such as Application Security, Pentesting, Security Operations, and Risk & Compliance.
  • Collaborating with Security teams to define and deliver a capstone project in a designated research area.
  • Monitoring and triaging alerts and vulnerabilities from our cloud security monitoring systems, focusing on cyber threat detection and vulnerability management automation.
  • Supporting security oversight initiatives as part of a compliance framework.
  • Reviewing, exploiting, and triaging findings from penetration tests, contributing to our internal Pentest Program.
  • Developing automation solutions to enhance the effectiveness of our Security Program.
Candidate Profile:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cyber Security, Cyber Assurance, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Introductory knowledge of security principles, including AV, Firewall, SIEM, Threat and Vulnerability Scanning, and familiarity with one or more Cloud Infrastructure providers (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Understanding of security testing methodologies such as network discovery, vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and configuration reviews.
  • A strong passion for Security Engineering and a desire to explore and navigate challenges.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
