Cybersecurity Engineer Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Engineer to conduct comprehensive cybersecurity vulnerability assessments of DoD information systems, networks, and platforms. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of security tools, including DoD HBSS, SCC/SCAP scanning, and ACAS scanning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct reviews, audits, and technical inspections to identify and mitigate potential security weaknesses.
  • Maintain day-to-day security posture and continuous monitoring of the cybersecurity tools to protect classified information systems.
  • Conduct security reviews in accordance with NIST guidelines, conduct security assessments, conduct control testing, ensuring that all relevant controls are thoroughly assessed.
  • Ensure security policies, procedures; recommendations comply with FISMA, NIST, Organizational guidelines and technical best practices.
  • Maintain day-to-day security posture and continuous monitoring using cybersecurity tools designed to protect classified information systems.
  • Maintain security Assessment and Authorization (A&A) documentation of assigned systems in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF), performing audits, performing incident response activities, interfacing with client and/or Government personnel, and maintain a thorough understanding of NIST 800-53 controls.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • Either hold a current DoDI 8570 IAC Level II Certification (Security+, for example) or obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Understanding of the DoD RMF process, specifically as it pertains to securing and accrediting boundaries within a DoD enclave.
  • Familiarity with using security tools such as SCC/SCAP and ACAS in order to identify and address mitigation of security findings.
  • Advanced knowledge of DoD STIGS applicable to MS technology and MS Best Practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Active Directory, MS servers.
  • Advanced knowledge of HBSS (MacAfee ePO 5.x).
  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience in MS systems administration and working on complex systems and software programs.
  • Experience working within a disciplined, process based SDLC.

Benefits:

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $89,000 - $149,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. AMERICAN SYSTEMS provides for the welfare of its employees and their dependents through a comprehensive benefits program by offering healthcare benefits, paid leave, retirement plans (including ESOP and 401k), insurance programs, and education and training assistance.
