As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of our city's buildings, facilities, streets, parks, and landscaping.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, repairing, and maintaining city buildings, facilities, and equipment.
- Operate hand and power tools to perform tasks such as shoveling, brooming, trimming, and power washing.
- Assist with asphalt and concrete repairs including breaking up existing surfaces and mixing and spreading new material.
- Clean and maintain restrooms including dumping trash and replacing liners.
- Perform preventative maintenance to maintain tools and equipment.
- Assist with special events such as setting up structures, tables, and chairs.
- High School graduation or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
- Six or more months of general maintenance work experience is desirable.
- Valid Class C California driver's license and acceptable driving record are required.
The employee will frequently stand and walk within work areas and sit in driving to maintenance work sites and city facilities. Firm and light grasping is required to move heavier materials and operate equipment controls. The employee will occasionally lift and move supplies, power and hand tools, barricades, delineators, and cones frequently weighing up to or exceeding 50 pounds.
Physical and Mental DemandsThe employee must be able to use written and oral communication skills, follow instructions and procedures, use math and mathematical reasoning, learn and apply new information or new skills, work under deadlines with interruptions and changing service priorities, and interact with city staff, management, contractors, and the general public.
