Position Overview:
The Academic Advisor plays a crucial role in supporting undergraduate students throughout their academic journey. Reporting directly to the Campus Director of Academic Advising, this position is dedicated to providing comprehensive advisement services tailored to the needs of students within a specific academic discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate student advisement services, ensuring students receive guidance aligned with their academic goals.
- Collaborate with faculty and administrative staff to enhance student support within the designated academic vertical.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student advisement activities.
- Provide information on academic policies, procedures, and resources available to students.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required; equivalent experience may be considered.
- At least two years of experience in an educational setting, particularly in roles related to student advisement or higher education services.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on understanding and addressing student needs.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for occasional travel may be required.
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
