Job Summary:

The Academic Advisor will report to the Campus Director of Academic Advising and be responsible for providing student advisement services for undergraduates within an assigned academic vertical. The incumbent will work closely with faculty and other identified individuals to maximize support of students in the assigned academic vertical.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in student advisement services for undergraduates within an assigned academic vertical.
  • Work closely with faculty and other identified individuals to maximize support of students in the assigned academic vertical.
  • Provide excellent human relations and oral and written communication skills, with a sensitivity to student needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Be willing and able to work non-standard hours as required, including evenings and weekends.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in an academic environment preferred, related to student advisement, records/registration, admissions, recruitment, or other higher education experience.
  • Excellent human relations and oral and written communication skills, with a sensitivity to student needs.
  • Computer proficiency, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, database software, and web navigation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Canvas X16 graphic design program and/or Colleague system (i.e., University database system).
  • Valid driver's license and accessibility to a car for occasional travel to either the Metro or Florham campus location if needed.
