Licensed Mechanic/Engineer

The Licensed Mechanic/Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of equipment and utilities for the hospital's Facilities operation. This includes inspecting buildings, grounds, and systems to maintain service utilities and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal codes.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate situations, correct problems, and initiate referrals to specialists, contractors, and departments as necessary.
- Inspect, monitor, and test mechanical systems associated with lighting, heating, air-conditioning, plumbing, ventilation, medical air, fire & life safety, pneumatic tube system, drainage, and water supplies.
- Assist with disconnecting and connecting temporary generators in the event of power disruptions.
- Respond and resolve minor plumbing issues.
- Monitor facility equipment, including boilers, chillers, auxiliary equipment, and ensure efficient operations and safety.
- Makes emergency repairs to pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems to prevent or stop interruptions of utility services.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Vocational high school graduate with a minimum of two years of plumbing courses or equivalent
- Minimum of four (4) years of general maintenance experience in plumbing, electrical systems, and Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (H.V.A.C.)
- Experience with shop tools, pipe threading, electric drills, rotary hammers, steam pressure reducing valve stations, etc.
- Ability to interpret plumbing, electrical, and mechanical blueprints
