Mechanic Apprentice
Salary Range
$44,000 - $57,000 per year, depending on experience
About the Job
TARC is seeking an experienced Mechanic Apprentice to join our team. As a trusted member of our crew, you will be responsible for performing and maintaining mechanical repairs on our buses. You will assist TARC mechanics with daily tasks, such as diagnosing vehicle issues, repairing engines, transmissions, and brakes, and performing routine maintenance checks.
Responsibilities
- Assist mechanics with lifting and maneuvering heavy parts and components
- Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, and brake issues
- Perform routine maintenance checks, including oil changes and tire rotations
- Use computerized diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle problems
- Work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks and priorities
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid KY or IN driver's license and CDL permit
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Pass a physical examination, including a drug screen, and a DOT Physical exam that includes bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching

Working Conditions
This position requires working in a noisy environment with adequate light and temperature. You may be exposed to extreme temperatures, loud noise, fumes, odors, dust, mist, gases, and poor ventilation. You must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and have mobility to move materials.
